Frequently asked questions
Does converting to MP4 lose quality?
Not when the picture is already H.264, as in most Android videos and iPhone videos recorded as Most Compatible: it is copied into the MP4 as it is. HEVC, VP9 and AV1 videos are re-encoded at a high bitrate so they look the same.
Why convert an iPhone video to MP4?
iPhones save video as HEVC in MOV files, which many Windows PCs, older phones, TVs and websites can't play. An H.264 MP4 plays almost everywhere.
My video won't convert. What can I do?
To re-encode a video the browser has to be able to play it. HEVC video and some MKV sound formats, like Dolby or DTS, need a browser that supports them: try the latest Chrome or Edge on a computer.
Can I convert several videos at once?
