Compress Video

Shrink a phone video under a size, like 16 MB for WhatsApp or 25 MB for email, or to a quality level, with an optional 1080p, 720p or 480p limit. See the expected size before you start.

Tip: choose several files at once to process them all with the same settings.

How to use it

  1. 1Choose one or more videos.
  2. 2Pick a size limit (WhatsApp 16 MB, email 25 MB or your own) or a quality level, and a resolution if you want one.
  3. 3Press Compress video and download the smaller MP4.

Frequently asked questions

How small can a video get?

It depends on its length: the size is shared out over every second, so a short clip still looks sharp at 16 MB while a long one gets a smaller picture. If a limit is too small to watch, the tool tells you the smallest size that works. You can also trim the video first.

Why did my compressed video come out at 720p or 480p?

With Auto resolution a tight size limit lowers the resolution, because a smaller, clean picture looks better than a blocky big one. Choose 1080p to keep it larger.

Will the sound still be clear?

Yes. Sound is saved as AAC at 48 to 128 kbps depending on the size you choose, which is clear for speech and music. Sound that is already small enough is copied as it is.

Which format is the compressed video?

An MP4 with H.264 video and AAC sound, which WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube, Gmail and every phone play. A 60 fps video is brought down to 30 fps to save space.

Can I compress several videos at once?

Yes. Choose them together and they are compressed one after another with the same settings. Download each one, or all of them as a .zip.
