Frequently asked questions
What happens to transparency when converting to JPG?
JPG and BMP can't store transparency, so transparent areas become white. PNG, WebP, TIFF and ICO keep it; GIF keeps only fully see-through areas.
Can I convert many files at once?
Yes. Add as many as you like and download them together as a .zip.
Can it open HEIC photos from an iPhone, or TIFF scans?
Yes, in every browser. HEIC photos and TIFF files are decoded on your device, so they convert like any other image. From a TIFF with several pages the first page is used; TIFF to JPG converts every page.
How do I make a favicon (ICO file)?
Choose ICO and tick the sizes you need: 16, 32 and 48 px make a website favicon, and 256 px suits a Windows app icon. All the sizes go into one .ico file.
Why does my GIF look grainy?
A GIF holds at most 256 colours, so photos lose some of their smooth shading. GIF suits logos and simple drawings; save photos as JPG or WebP.
